Ahsoka Tano's staff inspired by the Star Wars Kid

Star Wars Rebels has ended and Ahsoka Tano appears in the final scene after Sabine Wren decides to go look for Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka is standing there with a staff which looks very familiar. Her staff is strongly inspiried by the staff used by the Star Wars Kid!

Star Wars Rebels - Ahsoka Tano Staff - Star Wars Kid Golf Ball Retriever

The Star Wars Kid is Ghyslain Raza who filmed himself in 2002 as he imitated Darth Maul's dual lightsaber moves from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Ghyslain used a golf ball retriever as a prop for the dual lightsaber.

Has the design of Ahsoka's new staff been done on purpose to reference Ghyslain's golf ball retriever? If so, it is a great gesture from someone at Lucasfilm. Could it be Dave Filoni? If not, he is aware of it?

It is nice to see the official Star Wars universe ackowledging this true fan. Years ago, there was once a live cam stream from a Lucasfilm design workshop, and as they were working on Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, someone suddenly held a big sign to the camera on which you could read something along the lines of "Ghyslain in Episode III, it's possible, no?".

I don't know if Ghyslain Raza is aware that the Ahsoka staff in the Star Rebels series finale resemble the golf ball retriever he used all these years ago, but if he is, I hope he is pleased.

Next, I can only wish for Dave Filoni to invite Ghyslain for a tour of Lucasfilm. Going further, I wish for J.J. Abrams to offer Ghyslain a cameo in Star Wars: Episode IX. If not, J.J. should at least invite him for a VIP tour of the set.
